Mike and Amanda's 67
Mike and Amanda found out about me through word of mouth, then met me down at a local VW show where I was showing my 54 oval. After seeing the quality and dedication to the project, they chose me to build the 67 into their dream VW.

First Look
Here is how they bought their 67 Beetle. She was stock, but they had a vision of what they wanted to accomplish and to give her an attitude change.

The Heart
Here is a first look at the heart of their 67 project. Now is it the most pretty engine around? No not really but it ran and moved the car. The engine leaked oil and after a tear down I found out how badly worn out it was

Attitude Adjustment
To give the attitude adjustment they wanted we opted for a 4in narrowed adjustable beam built by Dwyane Penguilley and then 2.5in drop spindles to get the front a little lower.

Heart Surgery
After discovering the engine was bad, we had to build it from the ground up. New case, 8-dowel counterweighted crank, stock cam, Mahle forged P/C kit, stock rods, Mahle mains, Kolben cam and rod bearings, 26mm oil pump with added filter, and new stock heads. Once we ordered all the new parts, we did preliminary blueprinting and discovered the STD bore was about .004 too tight on the mains, so we had to recut the case to a standard size.

Eletrical System
All the eletrical system was updated with a new harness from wolfsburg west, new relays for the headlights and turn signals. Bulbs were replaced with 2200 lumen LED lights for maximum visibility on the road. Wiper motor was not functional when the car came in so we decided to restore it completely as well.

Internals of the Engine Blueprinted
Every aspect of the Engine was carefully measured and recorded onto a blueprint sheet that goes with the car, so you know exactly what is inside of your engine

German Quality Braking
All brake components were replaced with new stainless lines and fittings, a new ATE brake master cylinder, and new rear German Sebro drums with ATE wheel cylinders for maximum quality and reliability. They desired front disc so we went with the high quality front disc kit from CSP out of Germany. One of the reasons i champion their brake systems is because they are approved though strict and rigerous testing policies from the TÜV for road use.

The Refreshed Heart
Here is the completed factory-look 1600cc engine. I restored the 67 oil-bath air cleaner, along with all the factory tinware. I updated the fan shroud to a "doghouse" style, with an offset oil cooler and a larger fan. One of the other non-stock options they went for was an electric Pierburg fuel pump over the stock mechanical pumps ( I restore stock Pierburg pumps if you desire an original pump; check them out on the store page of our website!)

The Completed Look
Here is the finished look, lowered just right on vintage-style 5x205 Centerline rims. It turned out absolutely killer and always draws major looks everywhere it goes! Enjoy the ride, guys!

The Installed Power-plant
Here is the relatively stock 1600 installed in their car. It's always good to see a pretty much bone-stock-looking engine in a sea full of highly modified engines
